Summary of this proficiency test:

On 21 April 2010 the proficiency test on Lubricating Oil (unused) started with 100 participants from 48 different countries.

On 21 April 2010 the proficiency test on Lubricating Oil (used) started with 85 participants from 46 different countries.

On that date, the samples (#1041, #1042 and #1043) were dispatched to the laboratories. Enclosed to the samples were the instructions to the participants for this proficiency test, forms for the reporting of the analysis results and the material safety data sheet (MSDS).

The samples can be analyzed on: Acid Number, Base Number, Colour, CCR, Density@15°C, Flash Point COC and PMcc, Kinematic viscosity @40°C, Kinematic viscosity @100°C Viscosity Stabinger @40°C, Nitrogen, Pour Point, Sulphated ash, Sulphur, Water, and 17 elements (wear metals and additives: Ag, Al, Ba, Ca, Cr, Cu, Fe, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Pb, Sn, Si, Ti, V and Zn.oil: Total Base Number, Total Acid Number, Colour, CRC, Density @15°C, Flash Point COC and PMcc, Kinematic Viscosity @40°C and @100°C, Nitrogen, Sulfur, Sulphated Ash, Pour Point, Water, Ca, P, and Zn. And the wear metals Ag, Al, Ba, Cr, Cu, Fe, Pb, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Ni, Na, Si, Sn, Ti and V and the additives Ca, P and Zn on the used lub oil.

The deadline for reporting results is set on 21 May 2010. A laboratory that sends in results after deadline will definitely not get direct feedback in case any of its results are suspect! So be in good time to get the most out of this proficiency test.
