Summary of this proficiency test:

On 29 October 2008 the proficiency test on Transformer Oil started with 41 participants from 20 different countries.

On that date, the samples (#0875, #0876, #0877 and #0891) were dispatched to the laboratories. Enclosed to the samples were the instructions to the participants for this proficiency test, forms for the reporting of the analysis results and the material safety data sheet (MSDS).

The samples can be analyzed on: Density @ 20°C, Di-electric dissipation Factor, Specific Resistance, Breakdown Voltage, Interfacial surface tension , Colour, Water, Acid number (neutralization number), Cadmium, Furanic Compounds, Extractable organohalogenic compounds (EOX), Polychlorinated biphenyls as PCB, Polychlorinated biphenyls as Arochlor, Free and dissolved gases, Hydrogen H2, Oxygen O2, Nitrogen N2, Carbon monoxide CO, Carbon dioxide CO2, Methane CH4, Ethane C2H6, Ethene C2H4 (ethylene), Ethyn C2H2 (acetylene), Propane C3H8 and Propene C3H6.

The deadline for reporting results is set on 28 November 2008. A laboratory that sends in results after deadline will definitely not get direct feedback in case any of its results are suspect! So be in good time to get the most out of this proficiency test.
