Summary of this proficiency test:

On 27 August 2008 the proficiency test on Methanol started with 63 participants from 30 different countries.

On that date, the samples were dispatched to the laboratories. Enclosed to the samples were the instructions to the participants for this proficiency test, forms for the reporting of the analysis results and the material safety data sheet (MSDS).

The samples have to be analyzed on the IMPCA specs: Appearance, Purity on dry basis, Colour Pt/Co, Water, Distillation range @760 mmHg, Density @20慢, Specific gravity 20/20 , Permanganate time test @15慢, Carbonisable substances, Ethanol, Chloride, Sulfur, Hydrocarbons, Carbonylic compounds, Acidity, Total iron, Nonvolatile Matter, Trimethylamine and UV absorbance.

The deadline for reporting results is set on 19 September 2008. A laboratory that sends in results after deadline will definitely not get direct feedback in case any of its results are suspect! So be in good time to get the most out of this proficiency test.
