Summary of this proficiency test:

On 12 March 2008 the proficiency test on MTBE / ETBE   started with 29 participants from 18 different countries.

On that date, samples 0822 and 0823 were dispatched to the laboratories. Enclosed to the samples were the instructions to the participants for this proficiency test, forms for the reporting of the analysis results and the material safety data sheet (MSDS).

The MTBE samples have to be analyzed on: Water, Refractive index, Color Pt/Co, Density @15C, Purity, Purity on dry basis and some GC- impurities: Diisobutylenes, Methanol, t-Butylalcohol, C4-, C5- and Other hydrocarbons.

The ETBE samples have to be analyzed on: Water, Density @15C, Sulphur, Nitrogen, Purity, Purity on dry basis and some GC- impurities: Diisobutylenes, Ethanol, t-Butylalcohol, C4-, C5- and Other hydrocarbons.  

The deadline for reporting results is set on 11 April 2008. A laboratory that sends in results after deadline will definitely not get direct feedback in case any of its results are suspect! So be in good time to get the most out of this proficiency test.
