Summary of this proficiency test:

On 16 January 2008 the proficiency test on Fuel Oil started with 79 participants from 40 different countries.

On that date, sample 0803 was dispatched to the laboratories. Enclosed to the sample were the instructions to the participants for this proficiency test, forms for the reporting of the analysis results and the material safety data sheet (MSDS).

The sample has to be analyzed on Ash Content, Asphaltenes, Bromine Number, Conradson Carbon Residue (CCR), Density, Distillation, CHN-Analyzer, Flash Point PMcc, Heat of Combustion (Gross, Net), Kinematic Viscosity (50 and 100ºC), Micro Carbon Residue (MCR), Organic Chlorides, Lower and Upper Pour Point, Sediments by Extraction, Potential and Accelerated total sediment, Sulfur, Nitrogen, Water by distillation, Vanadium, Silicon, Aluminium, Potassium, Sodium and Nickel.

The deadline for reporting results is set on 15 February 2008. A laboratory that sends in results after deadline will definitely not get direct feedback in case any of its results are suspect! So be in good time to get the most out of this proficiency test.
