Summary of this proficiency test:

On 29-Jun-04 the proficiency test n-Butylacrylate (iis04C05) was finished. It started on 28-Apr-04 (see message “Proficiency Test on   started” on this website) when the samples were distributed.

During the meeting of the i.i.s. advisory board in Lisbon (Portugal) in September 2001 it was decided to organise a proficiency test for the analysis of  n-Butylacrylate. In this international interlaboratory study 10 laboratories in 8 different countries have participated.

The participants were asked to determine:  MERGEFIELD Provisional_scope Acidity as free Acrylic Acid, Colour Pt/Co, Density @ 20^oC, MEHQ, Water, Purity, Purity on dry basis, n-Butanol, n-Butylacetate, n-Butylmetacrylate, n-Butylpropionate, Di-n-Butylether, 2-Ethylhexylacrylate, Isobutylacrylate and Unknown Impurities.

The proficiency test report summarises per test, the test results, the analytical methods reported by the participants and the z-scores calculated by i.i.s. for each participant are tabulated. Also, for each test, the calculated summary (e.g. mean, standard deviation and reproducibility) is given.

In the report also an evaluation of the test results is given. Problems encountered in the analyses are mentioned and - where possible - suggestions for quality improvement are formulated. For each test a comparison is made between the results of the group of participants and the requirements given by the relevant standard (e.g. ISO, DIN, ASTM).
