Summary of this proficiency test:

On 21 March 2014, the proficiency test on Crude Oil Assay (iis13R02) was finished. It started on 17 October 2013 (see message “Proficiency Test on Crude Oil Assay started” on this website) when the samples were distributed.

In this interlaboratory study 24 participants in 19 different countries have participated.

All distillation fractions were tested on density, sulfur and nitrogen. Also simdist, PNA (PIONA) and D86 were performed on selected distillation fractions. From the reported simdist results on two subsequent fractions, the ECP and the standard efficiency were estimated.

The proficiency test report summarises per test, the test results, the analytical methods reported by the participants and a number of z-scores are tabulated. Also, for each test, the calculated summary (e.g. mean, standard deviation and reproducibility) is given.

In the report also an evaluation of the test results is given. Problems encountered in the analyses are mentioned and - where possible - suggestions for quality improvement are formulated. For each test a comparison is made between the results of the group of participants and the requirements given by the relevant ASTM standard.
